Our Hot Air Balloon Meets - everyone welcome!
Below you will find listed our forthcoming meets, but please keep checking as the list will change when new meets are ready to be advertised. Our club meets are not restricted to club members, everyone is welcome.

There isn't a charge to attend our meets with or without a balloon, there may be a small charge towards overnight stays in tents/caravans and motorhomes and this will be specified on the entry form. These need to be booked in advance please.

If you would like to join us, we ask that you register via the relevant meet entry form below under "Click for Entry form and Meet Info". This is simply so we can keep you up to date with what is going on and to let you have further details as necessary.

The closing date for entries is usually the Saturday prior to the meet to allow us to finalise the details with the site. However, if you have left it too late and the deadline has passed by, don't worry, just get in touch and we will try to fit you in.

For more information about our meets, please contact the club's meet organisers; Alex and Elaine Smith, via the email address; meets@prba.org.uk or telephone 07974 316123

The Flying Man (& women) of Pocklington Meet 15/05/2020  - 17/05/2020
Come and be a part of the Flying Man (and women) meet.

The Flying Man was a very unfortunate person and his attempts at flying did not end well, unlike ours. So our meet is in honour of Thomas Pelling, the infamous 'Flying Man'. He attempted to put on a show in the village by 'flying' with the aid of wires across the village from the church tower, but he didn't manage to fly very far, apart from vertically, and sadly to his death.

We can do far better!

Competing as always for the Flying Man trophy - awarded to the pilot who flies the closest to the church tower.

We are returning to The Mile caravan site, which is at the rear of The Mile Farm Shop (The Mile Farm Shop & Camping,
The Mile, Pocklington, York, East Yorkshire YO42 1TW)

Barbeque on site on Saturday evening with fun under the marquee until we all stagger home to our various forms of temporary abode!

On site are toilets, showers, washing up points, hard standing, electric hook ups, farm shop, cafe, childrens play area, and security gate for caravans.

All on-site overnight stays must be pre-booked and paid for please.

2020 is the 8th Henge Hoppers meet and unfortunately Camp Hill cannot accommodate us this year so we are moving! The new venue is the Bedale Camping and Caravan site.

Pilots are invited to compete for the fabulous Henge Hoppers trophy with a new twist on the challenge - the furthest away from the centre henge of the three Thornborough Henges will be the winner.

All on-site overnight stays must be pre-booked and paid for please.

White Horse Meet 26/06/2020  - 28/06/2020
Thirsk, North Yorkshire

This is one of the longest running meets in our calendar, (2019 was our 21st visit!) and we have great pleasure in inviting everyone along again to take part in the fun and friendly rivalry with the pilots trying their luck to win the White Horse trophy.

We are not able to book in July this year due to racing commitments of the racecourse, and we are looking hopefully to hold this in August. This will also be slightly better on the crop front.

Once again, our trophy is currently residing over the border in Lancashire, so come on Yorkshire pilots, let's get it back home this year!

As before, we have the usual well-drained camping and launch area.

The year we have a very special event taking place on Saturday afternoon (as long as all the boxes can be ticked to get it there)

All on-site overnight stays must be pre-booked and paid for please.

Autumn Gold Meet 09/10/2020  - 11/10/2020
Hibaldstow Airfield
Members and friends of the PRBA have been invited to a weekend of fun AND training at Hibaldstow Aerodrome.

The training will now be flying training/tethering etc. as the uptake for ground school training has not been massive, however we will also be holding a session for pilots to add a drop licence to their skills.

We will be based on the airfield (camping free of charge). There are also rooms available in the bunk house ranging from dorm style at 6 per night, to family rooms up to 40 per night. there are showers, toilets, a cafe/restaurant, and a bar all available on site, and lots of people jumping out of planes!

The rooms available to book are hot property so get in touch very quickly as they are booked up well in advance. Also, the village pub, The Wheatsheaf, have four double/twin rooms at around 65-70/night. Bargain!

We have test driven the food there too and it was really good. Tel: 01652 659595 or email wheatsheafhotel@outlook.com, the landlord would love a flight by the way!

As well as training, get your competition hats on and compete for the Autumn Gold Trophy. The task is set by whoever won the trophy last year.

We also have the 'Gassing' trophy in memory of Terry Chamberlain for you all to compete as a minimum distance task.

There aren't many balloon meets in this area and balloons are welcomed by the locals! So please come along and take advantage of a bargain weekend.

Humber Bridge Meet & Dinner 13/11/2020  - 15/11/2020
The Cave Castle Hotel, South Cave
PRBA's year-end meet, and being in December our flying hours are very sociable, so do come along for good company and a spot of flying.

This year we are going back to The Cave Castle Hotel at South Cave (not far off the M62). For those who remember the meet being there over 20 years ago, welcome back!

Also at this meet we hold our annual Humber Bridge dinner - always a good night. 2013 saw out the evening with an impromptu paper plane fight; so in 2014 we held the PRBA paper plane challenge; 2015 we decorated and hovered helium balloons, 2016 we went a-raiding in fancy dress, arrrhh we were pirates. Lots of fun and big laughs with pirate jokes and limericks and some fantastic costumes! 2017 we decided to go with the theme right under our noses - at the Old School House Restaurant - so it was school dinners - naughty school children everywhere! Exams too! 2018, we had a giant elf making fabulous balloon creations for us.

2019???? Perhaps we should be a little reserved for our first time back here. (But next year......caves.....hmmm....)

We welcome everyone to join us for the Humber Bridge Montgolfier dinner whether coming to the meet or not, but we must insist on payment with your dinner order, please.
